Safe Haven for Newborns
A “Safe Haven for Newborns” is here to help pregnant teens and women of all ages, from the time they find out they are pregnant and throughout their pregnancy, and even after the baby is born. We want them to know there is help for them before the reach a moment of crisis in deciding what to do with their newborn, and that there are safe haven’s for them to leave their babies instead of leaving a baby in an unsafe situation or abandoning the baby.
We understand that finding out you are pregnant can be scary. You may not be sure if you want this baby or what to do with it once it is born. We know it takes a great deal of courage to seek help when you are pregnant and don’t know what to do. We understand you may have mixed feelings about your baby. We are here to help you, not judge you. vs. the tragic alternative of abandonment.
The mother or the father of a newborn can take the baby to a ‘Safe Haven” location. REMEMBER, THE BABY MUST BE GIVEN TO A PERSON AT A SAFE HAVEN LOCATION. That is the only way to ensure that the baby will be safe & well taken care of. Many Hospitals and all staffed 24/7 Fire and Emergency Medical Service stations have signs with our logo and helpline # posted outside of their facility.
Make sure you:
- Give the baby to a person who is wearing some form of visible identification that says they work at the place you are at.
- Tell the person that you want to leave your baby with “Safe Haven”
